Second meeting of Houbara Bastard and Migratory Birds Endowment Fund held at Ministry of Climate Chang

Islamabad, January 18, 2018 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan chaired the second meeting of Houbara Bustard Endowment Fund and Migratory Birds held at Ministry of Climate Change to discuss the financial rules. Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan said while talking to provincial representatives that present government various serious to protect Houbara Bastard species in Pakistan. The creation of this fund is proof of solid efforts. All provinces need to work together to spend this money right directions.

The participants discussed the financial rules that were set to get approval from the board. However many technical issues were pointed out in the financial rules. The mechanism of distribution of funds was missing in the rules. The terminologies used in the document were not defined. It was also pointed out during meeting that third party validation is required to check the number of migratory birds in a particular province. The matter of appointment of fund manager was also discussed. A sub Committee was formulated to resolve all technical issues in the rules.

Federal Minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan also told that he would nominate people from media persons and private sector in next meeting as board member under his powers. He also instructed to eliminate all technical issues in the financial rules and present a complete document in next meeting. The meeting was attended by Ms.Romeena Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Climate Change Secretary Ministry of Climate Change Khizer Hayat, Inspector General Forest Syed Mehmood Nasir, Chief Conservator Mr. Umeed Khalid representatives provincial wildlife departments.
