In a series of diplomatic engagements, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reached out to key South Asian leaders to address escalating tensions in the region.

Secretary Rubio held separate discussions with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During his call with Army Chief Asim Munir, Secretary Rubio stressed the importance of finding pathways to de-escalation and offered U.S. assistance to initiate constructive dialogues to prevent future conflicts.

In his conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Dar, Secretary Rubio reiterated the necessity for both parties to de-escalate the current situation and restore direct lines of communication to minimise the risk of miscalculation. He extended the offer of U.S. support in facilitating productive discussions.

In a similar vein, Secretary Rubio’s dialogue with Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar focused on identifying strategies for de-escalation and re-establishing direct communication. He emphasised U.S. readiness to aid in fostering effective talks to avert any potential disputes.
