LAHORE: The district administrations of Lahore and Faisalabad have imposed Section 144 to ensure the “security of the people and installations against any potential terrorist or untoward activity”.

Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) empowers the district administration to issue orders in the public interest that may place a ban on an activity for a specific period of time. According to a notification issued by Lahore DC Rafia Haider, Section 144 will remain enforced in the city for seven days.

The move came after Punjab Home Department empowered the deputy commissioners of all the districts to decide on imposing Section 144 in their respective districts considering the current situation.
