Sehrai denounces murderous assault on Pulwama youth

Srinagar, February 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has strongly condemned the murderous assault on a Pulwama youth, Tawseef Ahmad Wani, by Indian troops at an army camp in the district.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said Indian forces have unleashed a reign of terror in South Kashmir in particular where people are threatened, tortured and killed during raids on their houses. While strongly condemning night raids and arrest spree unleashed by the Indian administration, he said that army and police had created havoc in the territory particularly in South Kashmir.

He said such coercive measures cannot dampen passion or deter people from following their cherished mission. “New Delhi is entirely responsible for pushing Kashmir youth to the wall, and continues to ignore the basic reality and ground situation which can be gauged from the fact that highly educated students are quitting their studies and resorting to other means of resistance to fight the worst form of oppression,” he added.

Sehrai said that during raids dozens of innocent youth were arrested from Pulwama and other South Kashmir districts and said, people were dragged from their houses and frisked and paraded, which was a brazen act of state aggression. He added that the authorities should behave like humans. Such suppressive steps would never dislodge the people of Kashmir from taking the struggle to its logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai expressed deep Grief and sorrow over the demise of Haji Muhammad Subhan Butt, father of Kashmir News Service (KNS) Chief Editor Muhammad Aslam Butt.
