Srinagar, June 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, and other Hurriyat leaders have paid rich tributes to the Shopian and other martyrs saying that people of Kashmir are duty-bound to safeguard the precious sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs.
Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said these sacrifices are priceless assets of the Kashmiri people and they are duty bound to safeguard such unprecedented sacrifices. Senior Hurriyat leader Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori in a statement while paying tributes to the martyrs of Shopian and other Kashmiri martyrs said that the prevailing uncertainty in the region was because of the unresolved Kashmir dispute.
Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, and Hurriyat leaders, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiaz Ahmad Reshi, Ghulam Nabi Waseem and Ghulam Nabi War, in their statements paid glowing tributes to the youth killed by the Indian forces during the ongoing week. They said that Kashmiri people would continue their freedom struggle till its logical conclusion.
Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt while addressing a party meeting in Srinagar urged India and Pakistan to resolve all issues on priority basis to end ruthless killings in the territory. Hurriyat leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam in a statement said that solution to the Kashmir dispute was lying with India adhering to the UN resolution. He urged New Delhi to shun violence and uphold international law, respect and adhere UN charter especially the UN resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a TeH delegation led by Rafiq Owasi participated in a function held to commemorate the 9th martyrdom anniversary of martyr, Tufail Matoo at Eidgah in Srinagar. Another TeH delegation comprising Zahoor-ul-Haq Gilani and Bashir Qureshi visited the residence of Tufail Mattoo and expressed solidarity with his family members. 17-year-old Tufail Mattoo was killed on this day in 2010 when he was hit by a teargas shell fired by police while he was returning home from tuitions. The killing sparked the 2010 mass uprising across the occupied territory.
