Sehrai strongly condemns invoking of PSAs on TeH leaders

Srinagar, April 01, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has strongly condemned the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act on TeH District presidents of Bandipora and Budgam Danish Mushtaq Malik and Tashooq Ahmed Banday and shifting them to outside jail.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said these are illegal and undemocratic tactics and authorities are hell bent upon curbing and strangulating the genuine aspirations and political voice and dissent with brute force.

He also condemned continued incarceration of political leaders and activists including Mohammad Yousuf Falai, Abdul Gani Butt, Sheikh Mohammad Ramzan, Mohammad Amin Ahenger, Umer Adil Dar, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Ashiq Hussain Narchoor, Abdul Hajeed Parray, Nasir Abdullah, Nazir Ahmed Mantoo, Ghulam Mohammad Misger, Abdul Majeed Lone, Mohammad Hussain Waggey, Mohammad Yaseen Tantray, Shakeel Ahmed Pandit, Manzoor Ahmed Ganai.

Terming it as a political vendetta, Sehrai said arresting and slapping PSAs on resistance leaders and shifting them to outside Valley jails is highly undemocratic act and deserves all forms of condemnation. “The jails have been filled with innocent people and many have been shifted to jails outside the valley,” he said and added: “These repressive measures are being used as tools to punish the people for their political belief.”

Sehrai while paying painful tributes to Pulwama martyrs said the pain of losing loved ones can well be felt by the Kashmiris who see the dance of death every day. “The Kashmir issue is where it has always been – unresolved and causing great harm, suffering and cost to all. Today, all of us continue to be held hostage to the past,” he deplored. Meanwhile, Sehrai expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of prominent businessman, Abdul Karim, grandfather of Arif Shafi Wani, senior Editor Greater Kashmir, who passed away on Sunday.
