Srinagar, August 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has warned of serious consequences if New Delhi tempered with state subject law guaranteed by the Article 35-A.
Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the real agenda behind the petition filed in the Indian Supreme Court seeking abrogation of Article 35-A was no secret and actually was a bid to merge internationally recognized disputed Jammu and Kashmir with India.
He said the main motive behind the move is to change the demography of the Muslim majority territory into minority. He said, “We are fighting against the forcible Indian occupation, but at the same time we can’t afford to ignore such grave issues which could have deep and severe impacts on disputed land of Kashmir.”
The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman said from 1947 Indian establishment is continuously using its stooges in the form of pro-India political parties to change the unique identity of Kashmir and a recent assault had been witnessed on economy in the form of GST, when PDP was in power.
He said history is testimony to the fact that it was during the period of 1954 to 1964 when Jawaharlal Nehru was in power when they reduced Article 370 to mere dust. He said on 6th December 1964, the then Home Minister Gulzari Lal himself accepted that Article 370 is now a narrow shell and weather it remains or not it will have no impact as its sole is already dead.
Ashraf Sehrai appealed to the people to observe a historical shutdown and there should be a complete civil curfew on August 5 and 6 to show total disapproval against this onslaught on Article 35-A. He also paid glowing tributes to the Kashmiri youth martyred by Indian troops in Lolab and Sopore areas. In his telephonic address to the massive gathering in Kupwara, he said that these brave hearts laid their precious lives for better tomorrow of Kashmiris and to end Indian brutal occupation.
