Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology hosted a seminar on the topic of “Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s Concept of Education and Grooming in the Context of the Modern Era,” where eminent scholar and former head of the Arabic Department of Aligarh Muslim University, India, Professor Abu Sufyan Islahi, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the enduring relevance of Sir Syed’s educational ideas in today’s world.
In his address, Professor Islahi emphasized Sir Syed’s enlightened approach to education, which aimed not only at acquiring knowledge but also at fostering moral values and civic responsibility. “Sir Syed was a visionary who understood that the true progress of a nation lies in the harmony between modern education and the preservation of one’s cultural and ethical identity,” said Professor Islahi.
Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Jawaid Anwar, delivered a welcome address, stressing that Sir Syed’s educational framework transcended ideological divides. “Education and character-building, according to Sir Syed, are inseparable. His vision was not about producing mere professionals but individuals of sound moral character, equipped to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world,” said Anwar.
Vice Chancellor Dr Munawar Hussain, in his vote of thanks, reflected on the challenges posed by modern technologies and social media. He urged attendees not to compromise on their principles, advocating for a balanced approach to training the youth that integrates both knowledge acquisition and ethical grooming.
