The Senate today decisively proclaimed 25th May as PakistanAfrica Friendship Day, passing a resolution to bolster ties with African nations.

Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar introduced the resolution, emphasizing Pakistan”s commitment to expanding relations across political, economic, technological, cultural, and educational domains.

The resolution pledged to augment Pakistan”s contributions to African peace and stability, particularly through collaboration with the African Union in UN peacekeeping initiatives. Africa”s potential as a key partner in global peace and prosperity was highlighted.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar outlined Pakistan’s plans to enhance trade by exporting textiles, pharmaceuticals, and sports goods to Africa, aligning with the continent”s digital transformation goals through IT services and training programs. He also noted Pakistan”s increased diplomatic engagement under the Engage Africa policy.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani remarked on the historic nature of the session, emphasizing shared resolve for solidarity and strong parliamentary ties. Additionally, the Senate addressed international concerns, condemning India”s terrorism sponsorship in Pakistan and a recent attack in Khuzdar, urging swift action against those responsible.
