Several people injured in forces’ firing in IOK

Srinagar, October 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, several people were injured in firing by Indian forces on peaceful protesters in Srinagar and other areas of the territory. The protests were held on the occasion of a delegation of European Parliament’s visit to the occupied territory, today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arranged the visit of Islamophobic EU members to the Kashmir valley when matriculation examinations are being held to show a kind of normalcy in the territory.

However, Kashmiri people took to streets in many parts of the valley to belie the Indian claim. Indian forces used brute force and fired pellets and teargas shells on pro-freedom protesters in several areas of Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir valley, leaving many injured on Tuesday. Clashes are going on in many places in Srinagar and other places in the valley.

“The situation is not conducive for children to go to examinations. The authorities should have postponed today’s papers,” Arshad Wani, who was waiting outside an examination hall at Iqbal Park in Srinagar, said. He said the safety of children should be paramount for stakeholders of the society.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat AJK chapter leaders Abdul Hameed Lone and Syed Aijaz Rehmai in a statement issued in Islamabad urged the people of occupied Kashmir to hold strong protests as a mark of civil disobedience against India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir upon the arrival of the European Parliament members in the occupied territory, today.
