Shabbir Dar, Iqbal Mir express solidarity with Rizwan’s family

Srinagar, March 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, and the President of Mahaz-e-Azadi, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, today, along with a delegation visited Awantipora area of Pulwama and expressed solidarity with the family of shaheed Rizwan Asad. Rizwan Assad died in the custody of Indian’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) at infamous Cargo interrogation centre in Srinagar on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Addressing the mourners, Shabbir Ahmed Dar and Muhammad Iqbal Mir said the martyrdom of the highly qualified scholar speaks volumes about the state of affairs in occupied Kashmir. The gruesome murder in police custody has substantiated the United Nations and the US State Department reports regarding human rights violations by India in occupied Kashmir, they added.

They said the brutalities perpetrated by Indian forces’ personnel in the occupied territory sent a grim reminder to the United Nations to fulfill its responsibility of implementing its resolutions on Kashmir. This crime of custodial killing will not be allowed to go unpunished and all-out efforts will be made to force the Indian authorities to bring the culprits of the heinous crime to book, they added.
