Shabbir Dar, others condole death of Munshi Gulam Hassan

Srinagar, July 05, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (JKMC), Shabbir Ahmed Dar, along with other Hurriyat leaders, Muhammad Iqbal Mir and Ghazi Altaf, today, visited Nawpora area of Srinagar and condoled the death of noted writer and social activist, Munshi Ghulam Hassan, with the bereaved family.

Munshi Ghulam Hassan was the son of founding leader of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Munshi Ishaaq. Munshi Ishaaq was a great freedom fighter and it was his residence that the Kashmiri leaders met at and formed the first political organisation of Jammu and Kashmir against the rule of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh.

Shabbir Ahmed Dar speaking to the mourners praised the contribution of Munshi family towards the freedom movement and reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve take it to its logical conclusion. Later, the delegation visited the residence of late Ghulam Muhammad Dar at Hyderpora in Srinagar to offer condolences on the death of his wife who passed away, yesterday.

Ghulam Muhammad Dar was the executive member of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and a dedicated freedom-lover who till his last breath actively participated in the party programmes. Meanwhile, senior APHC leader and the President of Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of prominent historian, scholar and civil society activist, Munshi Ghulam Hassan.
