London, May 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, the Chairman of South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights, has paid glowing tributes to former senior advisor to the Secretary General of the United Nations and prominent Kashmiri intellectual, Ambassador Yusuf Buch, who passed away in US recently.
Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl in a statement issued in Srinagar said, he had many opportunities to peep into the brilliance of this great man. He would become nostalgic about his homeland and share his irresistible love for his imprisoned paradise.
Nazir Shawl said Yusuf Buch in his preface to my book wrote, “Nazir Shawl’s resort to English is of particular interest because the anguish and longing that permeates much of his work are more collective than personal. The current prevailing Kashmiri consciousness gains a dual focus from the beauty of the land, on one side and its desolation, on the other. The first-nature’s gift is condemned to be a passive witness to the second-tier credulous work of military occupation.” He has expressed these feelings in the preface that he wrote for my book “Speaking silence”.
He said Buch is the only Kashmiri who reached to this pinnacle on the strength of his capability and intellect and his intelligence was his reference. May Allah rest him in eternal peace and grant him highest place in Jannat. Aameen.
