SHC orders demolition of ex-MPA’s bungalow, other illegal structures

SUKKUR:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday ordered demolition of ex-MPA Javed Shah’s bungalow and other illegal commercial structures in Barrage Colony area of Sukkur.

 

During the hearing of a case pertaining to illegal structures and encroachments, Advocate General Sindh appeared in the court and told it that Sindh Chief Minister was infected with the coronavirus, therefore, some leniency of time should be granted.

 

The court remarked that it had already given leniency of time to the Sindh government and warned that if commercial encroachments were not removed, then an operation under the supervision of Registrar would be launched and action would be taken against the irrigation officials.

 

Last day, the local administration, accompanied by heavy contingents of police, raided Barrage Colony area and started operation to remove illegally-built houses and other encroachments. As the citizens offered resistance, the police arrested two persons, Sartaj Ansari and Yousuf Mangi.

 

The citizens said that first demolish an illegal built private hospital and illegal houses of influential people. They said that they had been living there since years, but the government, instead of providing them shelter, was trying to make them homeless, which was a great injustice.

 

The operation led to severe resistance by the locals who also entered an illegal building and demanded its immediate demolition. The raised slogans and demanded justice for the poor people.
