ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday received guard of honour at the Prime Minister House as he assumed the responsibilities of the office.
PM Shehbaz reviewed the guard of honour. Contingents of the armed forces presented him salute. The prime minister was also introduced to the officials and staff of the PM House.
Shehbaz Sharif on Monday took oath as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan, bringing an end to political uncertainty in Pakistan since a no-trust motion was introduced against his predecessor Imran Khan. He was administered the oath of office by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani after President Arif Alvi complained of “discomfort” and said that his physician has advised him to rest for a few days.
PM said in a Twitter message that he wanted to congratulate people of Pakistan on peaceful transition of power. He added: “It’s matter of pride that today all our institutions respect Constitution as guiding principle. If stock market and strengthening currency is any indication, the journey towards our goals has already started.”
