Shehryar Afridi briefed on arrest of accused in Madeeha murder case in Hangu 

Islamabad, February 19, 2020 (PPI-OT):Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Tayyab Hafeez Cheema phoned Minister for Narcotics Control Shehryar Khan Afridi on Wednesday and submitted a detailed report into the murder case of minor Madeeha in Doaaba village, Hangu District. According to the Police report, the police have arrested Muhammad Ilyas, who has confessed of killing the minor girl on failure of a sexual assault. According to police investigation, Muhammad Ilyas is a close relative of deceased Madeeha. The accused is the son of Gul Rehman, the complainant of the case, and also the accused is cousin of the father of deceased Madeeha. According to the police report, the accused is a student of 10th grade and lives in the same house as the victim did.

 

According to police, the accused has informed the police that he allegedly lured Madeeha to a nearby jungle with intention of sexual assault. However, upon resistance by the minor girl, the accused shot a single fire and killed the girl. On pointation of the accused, police has recovered the pistol from the bedroom of the accused and sent it for forensics. Talking to Omar Khan, the father of Madeeha, Shehryar Afridi has said that while the killer has been arrested, the government would take the matter to its logical conclusion. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has once again proven its professional excellence by arresting the accused of a blind murder in a record time.

 

Afridi said that he has briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan, as both leaders were concerned about the matter. It merits mention here that Shehryar Khan Afridi visited Doaaba city in Hangu District and offered condolences to the family of minor girl Madeeha who was found dead in mysterious condition. Afridi also met with the father of victim Omar Khan and grandfather Haji Gul Rehman. DIG Police Tayyab Hafeez Cheema gave a briefing to the minister on the investigation conducted into the case. Expressing his gratitude to the minister, Haji Gul Rehman said he is thankful to the federal as well as provincial governments for supporting the aggrieved family.

 

He lauded Shehryar Khan Afridi for coming a long way to Doaaba to pay his condolences. Talking to the family, Afridi said that such unfortunate incidents are a disgrace to humanity and are against traditions and values. The minister said the government stands by the victim’s family and all efforts would be made to bring the culprits to justice. Afridi urged parents to remain vigilant towards the security of their minor children. He said that the government is performing its duties but the parents must also do their part to help stop such events from happening.
