Shehryar reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to expose Modi’s fascist policies at int’l fora

Islamabad, August 21, 2020 (PPI-OT): Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue exposing the true face of Modi government at every international forum to highlight the plight of Kashmiris. In an exclusive interview with News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan on Friday, he said Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his role as ambassador of Kashmir, has highlighted the occupation of India on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir at the world arena and also during his meetings and communication with world leaders.

As a result, OIC, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia have played exemplary role in raising the voice for Kashmiris. Similarly, the Kashmir issue has reverberated in the European Union, House of Lords, UK, US Congress and other important world capitals. Shehryar Khan Afridi said government and people of Pakistan fully stand with their Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for right to self-determination and there will never be any compromise on the issue of Kashmir. He said 220 million Pakistanis stand united on the issue of Kashmir.

Chairman Kashmir Committee said Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is under the occupation of usurper India. India has trampled and violated Shimla Agreement, its own Supreme Court, Indian Constitution, UN resolutions and all values. This occupation has badly tarnished India’s secular face and so-called democratic credentials. He said rampant human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are a burden on conscience of world. He said majority of Kashmiris want to become part of Pakistan. He said Kashmiris have been rendering huge sacrifices to get their right to self-determination. He said Kashmir is unfinished agenda of partition of India and is unresolved according to UN resolutions.

Chairman Kashmir Committee said after the illegal action of 5th August last year, Citizenship Amendment Act, Domicile Act, UEPA laws, and other draconian measures introduced are all aimed at stifling the voice and rights of Kashmiris. Referring to Indian hostile attitude towards neighbouring countries, Shehryar Afridi said India should not take our wish for peace as our weakness. Pakistan is a nuclear armed country and it can give a befitting response to any Indian misadventure. He said people of Pakistan fully stand behind their armed forces and India should not think of making any mistake. He said India has suffered disgraceful defeat by China at Laddakh and it should not repeat this mistake.

Referring to the role of Kashmir Committee, Shehryar Afridi said this apex forum is composed of members of all political parties in National Assembly and Senate. The Parliament is eye, tongue and face of the people of Pakistan. He said Kashmir Committee and Nuclear Committee are essential for Pakistan’s base, entity and ideology and no one can compromise on these major issues. Syed Shehryar Khan Afridi said successive governments in Pakistan established and activated the Kashmir Committee.

The committee gives recommendations to the government, keeps contact with Azad Kashmir leadership, their youth, academic and people from various walks of life. Kashmir Committee in cooperation with Foreign Office of Pakistan keeps in touch with Kashmiri Diaspora and raises voice at various international fora.

Shehryar Khan Afridi said the United Nations, which was established after the World War two to establish peace in the world, did not perform its due role in resolving the Kashmir issue. Kashmir Committee was established because Kashmiris have been suffering from the last 174 years, i.e. 1846 when it was sold by Dogras, and human rights had been trampled since then. He said at the time of partition, Muslims were promised that those areas will be part of Pakistan where the majority of people is Muslim.

However, they were deceived and a backdoor was given to India to occupy Kashmir. He said due to active policy of Kashmir Committee at major international forums, Indian diplomatic officials have become confused as they find no logical explanation to justify the steps taken by their government. Appreciating the role of Radio Pakistan in effectively highlighting the Kashmir issue, he said the national broadcaster is not only the voice of nation, but its voice transcends beyond borders.

Radio is a very important medium to inform and educate people on national affairs, freedom of voice, international affairs and human rights issues objectively and in an impartial manner. Radio Pakistan has united people from across the country irrespective of their ethnic and provincial origins.
