RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Wednesday that tomorrow (Thursday) would be an important and historic day - a day of victory for the judiciary, constitution and the law.
Whosoever would clash with the judiciary would face defeat, he said. In a message on the social networking site Twitter, Sheikh Rashid said the government which could not get approval for the money bill had ceased to exist. Under Clause 7 of the Article 91, the president should ask the government to seek an immediate vote of confidence.
"Tomorrow will be an important and historic day. The judiciary, the constitution and the law would emerge victorious. Anybody defying the judiciary would be punished," he said. Mr Ahmed said Maryam Sahiba would reach Pakistan alone and Nawaz Sharif would go to London.
The elections would essentially be held no matter these were held in Punjab or across the country. The solution to the socioeconomic and political disasters was elections only. “If elections are held, country will also receive aid," he said.
The former interior minister said Ishaq Dar always tried to befool the IMF by providing wrong data. This time he was caught tampering with the data, the AML chief said. He said the government was exposing itself through audio and video leaks. The Supreme Court had already issued a stay order on Rules and Procedures Bill 2023, he added.
He further said the prime minister violated the constitution by not releasing election funds. He said more than 40 people committed suicide in the coastal belt of Thatta in April due to inflation and poverty.
