Shutdown in IOK tomorrow against India’s policies

Srinagar, March 07, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a complete shutdown, tomorrow, to condemn India’s fiddling with the State Subject Law Article 35-A, ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and arrest of Muhammad Yasin Malik and other Hurriyat leaders under draconian Public Safety Act.

The JRL in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, also said that peaceful protests would be held across the valley after Friday prayers. The statement strongly condemned the arbitrary arrest of senior resistance leader, Muhammad Yasin Malik under draconian law Public Safety Act.

The authorities booked Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Chief Spokesman for Jamaat-e-Islami, Advocate Zahid Ali, under black law, PSA, today. Yasin Malik was shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu and Advocate Zahid Ali to Central Jail, Srinagar. Another Jamaat leader, Mufti Mujahid Shabbir Falahi, was also slapped with PSA and shifted to Kot Bhalwal. India’s National Investigation Agency arrested a Kashmiri youth, Amir Nazir Mir, in Awantipora area of Pulwama today.

Complete shutdown was observed in Maisuma area of Srinagar against the arrest of Yasin Malik and other leaders under PSA. The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act on Muhammad Yasin Malik and other leaders. He said such illegal and undemocratic tactics will not stop people and leadership from demanding peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement said that the Kashmiris were yearning for the final settlement of the Kashmir dispute. Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen Chairperson Zamrooda Habib in a statement said that the International Women’s Day would be observed as Black Day in occupied Kashmir, tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred a youth during a cordon and search operation at Kralgund in Handwara area of Kupwara district. A boy was killed and as many as 30 people were injured, five of them critically, in a blast in bus stop in Jammu city, today. The injured were shifted to a local hospital for treatment. Jammu Muslim Front has strongly condemned the blast.

Two dry fruit vendors from Kashmir were assaulted by a group of Hindu fanatics belonging to the ruling extremist party, BJP, in Lucknow, today. The Kashmiri vendors were sitting on a busy road when they were attacked by the Hindu goons, who shared the video of the assault on social media. The Chairperson of All-Party Parliamentary Kashmir Group in the UK Parliament, Debbie Abrahams, has submitted a resolution in the Parliament seeking settlement of the Kashmir dispute and an end to uncertainty between Pakistan and India.
