Shutdown in Islamabad district against killing of youth

Srinagar, April 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Islamabad district on the second consecutive day, today, to mourn the killing of two youth by Indian troops. The troops martyred the youth, Safdar Amin and Burhan-ud-Din Ganai, a physiotherapist, during a cordon and search operation at Bagender Mohalla in Bijbehara town, yesterday.

All shops, business establishments and schools are closed while traffic is off the road in the district. The occupation authorities have deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength in Islamabad and Bijbehara towns to prevent people from staging anti-India demonstrations.

On the other hand, massive clashes between youth and Indian troops erupted after the troops launched a cordon and search operation in Turkuwangum area of Shopian district. Meanwhile, a soldier of Indian Border Security Force attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Qamarwari area of Srinagar. He was rushed to 92 Base Indian Army Hospital in Srinagar where his condition is stated to be stable.
