Sindh Allocates Rs1,018 Billion for Annual Development Program: Sindh Chief Secretary

Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, while addressing a 42-member delegation of the Senior Management Course, announced that Rs1,018 billion has been allocated for the Annual Development Program 2025-26 in Sindh. He highlighted the near-completion of the Shahrah-e-Faisal project and relief efforts for flood-affected people. Key officials, including the IG Sindh, Home Secretary, Chairman Planning, Secretary Local Government, DG PPP, and DG PDMA, attended the meeting.

The delegation was briefed on various ongoing projects, including improvements in policing, the Peoples Housing Project, and public-private partnerships. Sindh has allocated Rs1,018 billion for its 2025-26 Annual Development Program.

Special emphasis was placed on infrastructure development, including the 5.39 km long high-speed corridor connecting DHA to the M-9 motorway, Shahrah-e-Faisal, now 74% complete. The project cost is Rs54.08 billion. Construction of the Korangi Causeway Bridge (Rs6.135 billion) and the Malir River Bridge (Rs3.006 billion) is ongoing. The Delta Blue Carbon Credit initiative has generated $14.7 million in revenue.

Considering the devastating 2022 monsoon season, which affected 12.3 million people in 24 districts and destroyed 2.08 million houses, the provincial administration is constructing houses for flood-affected families under the SPHF project. Preemptive measures are being taken for the upcoming monsoon and potential flood situations.

PDMA Sindh has provided substantial resources to the district administrations, including 100 dewatering pumps, over 13,000 tarpaulins, and thousands of life jackets and tents. Warehouses hold over 280,000 tents, 1.83 million mosquito nets, and other essential relief materials.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon outlined the Rs189.7 billion allocation for Sindh Police in the current fiscal year. Hundreds of intelligence-based and search operations have been conducted in Katcha areas. The Karachi Safe City project, comprising 1,300 cameras, is underway with a budget of Rs6.62 billion. Rs4.962 billion has been allocated for the police welfare package, and the Shaheed package has been increased from Rs23 million to Rs60 million.
