Sindh collects Rs255.2m property tax in two months

KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation Department informed on Sunday that a total of Rs255.216 million property tax had been collected from different districts of Sindh during July-August 2021 period.

According to a statement issued from Sindh information department, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla to review collection of property tax, in which it was informed that a total of Rs255.216 million property tax was collected from districts of Sindh in July-August 2021 period.

The meeting was further informed that a property tax of Rs231.305 million was collected from Karachi, Rs12.978 million from Hyderabad, Rs5.241 million from Sukkur, Rs1.425 million from Shaheed Benazirabad, Rs1.838 million from Larkana and Rs1.429 million from Mirpurkhas.

In the meeting, Chawla advised the property tax defaulters to pay their taxes immediately to avoid any action. Five percent tax relief will be given to property tax payers by September 30, he assured. He further said that computerized challans had been issued for property tax, adding in case of non-receipt of challans, contact the excise and taxation office.

He said that special teams should be formed for the collection of property tax and the officers should make a comprehensive plan for the collection of property tax. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise and Taxation Raja Khurram Shehzad, Director Generals Munir Ahmed Zardari, Haji Saleem Bhutto, Director Taxes Samina Bhutto and other officers.
