The Chief Secretary of Sindh, Asif Hyder Shah, today underscored the Sindh government’s commitment to empower the province’s youth through technical education and skill development, aligning with the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The government aims to strengthen the technical and vocational training system to meet both national and international job market standards.

During a pivotal meeting of the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) in Karachi, Shah instructed that achieving full employment for STEVTAtrained graduates is a primary objective. He highlighted the necessity of creating industryresponsive programs and establishing urgent linkages with modern industries to ensure students are prepared for meaningful employment.

STEVTA operates over 250 technical and vocational institutions across Sindh, with a significant presence in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other divisions. To enhance efficacy, the Chief Secretary announced that 30% of these institutions will transition to a PublicPrivate Partnership (PPP) model, aiming to improve training quality and employment outcomes through private sector collaboration.

The meeting also resolved to establish 30 model institutes across Sindh, equipped with modern infrastructure and industryaligned curricula. Mr. Junaid Buland, Chairman STEVTA, revealed plans to introduce courses in emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology, aiming to provide youth with globally competitive skills. Despite challenges such as outdated curricula and infrastructure, the Sindh government remains dedicated to reforming technical education through strategic measures.
