Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon today extended heartfelt congratulations to the Hindu community on the occasion of Holi and announced that the Sindh government has declared a two-day holiday for the Hindu community during the Holi festival.
Memon stated that the Holi festival is a day of joy and solidarity. He said: “Sindh has always been a land of peace, tolerance, and religious harmony, where people of all religions live with mutual respect.”
He further mentioned that under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh government has undertaken several initiatives to protect the rights of minorities. For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the Pakistan People’s Party elected a minority member, Anthony Naveed, as Speaker, and Krishna Kohli as Senator.
Memon highlighted that the establishment of the Sindh Minorities Commission, financial assistance and scholarships for minority students, and the renovation of temples are credited to the Sindh government. Job quotas and welfare projects for minority communities have also been introduced, he concluded.
