Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said today that the Sindh government remains committed to empowering women across all sectors. He emphasized that no society can progress without the active participation of women.
According to the Sindh CM House information, Shah said in his special message on International Women’s Day that the day symbolizes the struggle for equality, rights, and justice. He paid tribute to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Sindh, reaffirming the government’s dedication to providing women with equal opportunities.
He noted that Sindh has taken major initiatives, including launching Pakistan’s first Pink Bus Service, which serves as a milestone in ensuring safe and dignified travel for women. Additionally, the government has introduced an electric motorbike scheme, initially providing 1,000 e-bikes to female students and working women, along with training to ensure safe usage.
Murad Ali Shah underscored that equal opportunities in education and healthcare for women remain a top priority for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government. He acknowledged the contributions of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, describing them as symbols of resilience and leadership. He further stated that the PPP has enacted key legislation to protect women’s rights, including policies on land distribution, inheritance rights, and economic support through the Benazir Card.
Referring to the 2022 floods, the Chief Minister mentioned that the Sindh government undertook extensive rehabilitation efforts, including the construction of permanent housing for displaced families. Notably, most ownership rights for these new homes are being granted to women to promote financial independence and security. Additionally, the government has initiated a free solar home system program for low-income women.
Shah also highlighted the PPP’s efforts under the People’s Poverty Reduction Program, which provides financial assistance, training, and resources to women for economic self-sufficiency. Furthermore, the Benazir Youth Development Program has been introduced to offer vocational and professional training to women.
He announced a partnership between Sindh and Oxford University, launching the “Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program” to provide global-standard education to students from Sindh.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the promotion of women in sports, citing the organization of Sindh Pink Games 2025 across 30 districts to encourage female participation in athletics.
He concluded by affirming that strong and independent women are the foundation of a stable and prosperous Pakistan. The Sindh government, he said, will continue introducing employment, safety, and development initiatives to ensure equal opportunities for women at all levels.
