KARACHI: Acting Governor Sindh Agha Siraj Khan Durrani said Wednesday that Sindh province has a rich history and traditions and the Moenjo Daro is 5000 years old civilization. The role of Sindh in creation of Pakistan is not hidden from any one.

This he said while talking with Special Assistant to Prime Minister and chairperson of task force on Parliamentary Affairs Ms Romina Khursheed Aalam at Governor House here today. Dr. Shazia Soobia MNA, Syed Ali Sardar Jafri, Syed Ammar Yasir Gillani and Ms Hira Naz Awan were also present on the occasion.

Agha Siraj further said that younger generation should be introduced to the historical places and importance of Sindh Province during Pakistan movement and before. Sindh Assembly is also a historical place where father of the nation took oath as Governor General, and it housed first national assembly of Pakistan, he added.

While highlighting role of Sindh Assembly with respect to legislation in various fields Acting Governor said that Sindh Assembly is miles ahead as compared with other Provincial Assemblies in making laws in various fields for improving social sector as life of common man.

Hindu Marriage Bill is an example of the same, where an opposition member tabled this bill and government not only supported the bill but also made it a law, he added. Agha Siraj further said that Sindh Assembly has legislated to prevent Child Abuse, ensuring women and home based works rights and protection of journalists. It is the first province which approved and notified Rs. 25000 as minimum wage for unskilled workers.

He said that Parliamentarians from Sindh work day and night for welfare of the masses of the province. Ms. Romina while appreciating role of Sindh in enacting public oriented laws invited Acting Governor Sindh to attend national parliamentary conference to be held on 27-28 July at Islamabad.
