Sindh hospitals face PPEs shortage

KARACHI:Vice-President, Young Doctors Association (YDA), Sindh, Dr Waris Ali Jakhrani, on Monday said lives of doctors, nurses and paramedics staff are at risk in the Sindh province due to short supply of personal protection equipment (PPEs) in health facilities throughout the province.

 

Talking to PPI, Dr Waris Jakhrani, said doctors and other medical staff were working on the front line in the war against Coronavirus (COVID-19) since beginning of the pandemic in Pakistan and their lives were at risk due to the shortage of PPEs and injection used in treatment of corona patients.

 

He informed that corona cases and its related deaths had been increased in Sindh province, particularly in Karachi, therefore, authorities concerned should ensure provision of safety kits and drugs used in the treatment of corona patients at Corona Treatment Centres.

 

Dr Jakhrani said so many doctors and other medical staff had fallen prey to the deadly virus disease because of non-availability of PPEs in health facilities. He requested the provincial authorities concerned to provide PPEs for the protection of doctors, nurses and paramedics. He demanded of highups of Sindh government to ensure supply of PPEs in tertiary care hospitals, districts headquarters health facilities and Corona Treatment Centres on urgent basis.
