KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Industries and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that the leather industry is an important industry and the Sindh government will take all possible steps to promote it.
He said this today during a meeting with the Tanners (Leather Industry) Association Southern Zone delegation at his office Sindh Secretariat on Wednesday. Secretary Industries and Commerce Rashid Ahmed Solangi, MD SITE Tariq Anwar Khokhar and other officers were also present in the meeting while the delegation included Tanners Association officer bearers Muhammad Shafi, Tahir Iqbal, Ijaz Ahmed, Farooq Ahmed and others. The delegation informed the provincial minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo about the problems related to the leather industry. The provincial minister assured the delegation of solving the problems.
Speaking to the delegation, Provincial Minister for Industries and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo further said that the Sindh government had improved the infrastructure at a cost of 300 million rupees and further improvements would be made in it. The delegation also invited the provincial minister to visit Pakistan Pavilion in the industrial exhibition to be held in Dubai.
The delegation also requested for allocation of 500 acres of land for the leather industry. The provincial minister said that he would request the Chief Minister of Sindh in this regard. Meanwhile, a summary of 500 million rupees has been prepared to further improve the infrastructure of the industrial zone associated and a summary has also been prepared for the provision of fire tenders and ambulance.
