Sindh sets up cell to provide 250,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses

KARACHI:Sindh government has established Provincial Vaccine Coordination Cell to make final arrangements for coronavirus (COIVD-19) vaccine trial.

The Provincial Vaccine Coordination Cell has been set up on the directives of Minister for Health Sindh Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho. Secretary Health Sindh Kazim Jatoi will lead the COVID-19 vaccination arrangements.

This was decided in a meeting held under the supervision of Minister for Health Sindh Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho. Secretary Health Sindh Kazim Jatoi, Parliamentary Health Secretary Qasim Siraj Somroo and other officials were also present on this occasion.

She informed that vaccine would be available in the province in second week of January in collaboration with National Vaccine Task Force and National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

She informed: “An estimated 250,000 vaccine doses are likely to be provided to Sindh and each person will be administered two doses of vaccine after a 21-day gap.” She further said healthcare professionals and front line workers would get vaccination in the first phase.

Pechuho said front line workers of public and private sector hospitals would be vaccinated in the first phase. She said necessary directives had already been issued about compiling the data of healthcare workers performing duties in the private hospitals.

She said 50 cubicle had been setup in Expo Centre for vaccination and around 5000 people would be vaccinated in a day. The vaccination card will also be issued to individuals for traveling purpose after completion of vaccine procedure.

The tertiary care hospitals of Sindh (excluding Karachi) will be provided vaccine facility. The elderly people above 60 and suffering from other ailments would be administrated vaccine in the second phase.
