HAFIZABAD: Law enforcers on Wednesday recovered 6300 sacks of wheat during operations against the wheat smuggling and hoarders in different cities of Punjab. Operations against illegal wheat storage and smuggling are ongoing in the Hafizabad district on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Umar Farooq Waraich.

According to Zonal Manager of Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) Mukarram Javed, the district administration and PASSCO have seized seven vehicles full of wheat from the areas of Kaleki, Bhubhara, Madina Sugar Mills Chowk, Sawanpura and Fateh Pur while thwarting the attempts of illegal smuggling and hoarding of wheat and around 3100 sacks of wheat were recovered. Furthermore, 1200 sacks of wheat illegally stored have also been seized by raiding a warehouse near Doleki Bypass in Pindi Bhattian. The seized vehicles and wheat have been shifted to nearby PASSCO centers.
