Islamabad, February 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza chaired a high level meeting regarding Novel Corona virus. Meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Health Dr. Allah Bakhsh Malik, Executive director National Institute of Health Professor Dr. Major General Aamer Ikram, representative Pak Army. Meeting was given detail briefing on different aspects of preparedness and response to novel corona virus. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Zafar Mirza said there is no case of corona virus in Pakistan. Zafar Mirza said that screening of incoming passengers is continuing Ports of Entry in Pakistan. High level of vigilance is being maintained.
On 18th February 14879 passengers were screened by fully trained health officers at Ports of Entry. All passengers arriving from China are being followed up by dedicated teams of doctors of NIH. We are prepared to address any eventuality as per who guidelines and international health regulations. An awareness campaign in collaboration with PEMRA under way whereas PTA is assisting and sending awareness messages to in coming passengers from china.
