Sports: Cricket: England will be better positioned against Pakistan after Windies series: Basit Ali

Karachi:England will have an edge against Pakistan in the three-match series, which begins August 5 at their backyard since they have played against West Indies by then.

He said that the conditions have been changed in response to coronavirus and England will have already played three Tests against West Indies by the time they meet Pakistan in the field.

So, they will have an edge against the green shirts of having already played cricket in the bio-secure bubble.

“England already have home advantage while having played against West Indies under new conditions will further give them edge against Pakistan as Pakistan players don’t have match experience for a while now,” he said.

However, he added that there have been a lot of former match winners with the team including Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed, which would boost the morale of the side. They must be working with the players as well, which would have made them ready to take the challenge.

Meanwhile, he said that the team management may not pick seasoned Fawad Alam for the first Test and would go with Iftikhar Ahmed as England players have more left-handers and the later may come handy with his right-arm off-spin.
