Deputy Mayor of Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad, said today that a spray campaign has been launched in the city to eliminate flies, mosquitoes, and other germs to protect citizens from malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and other infectious diseases.
The spray campaign aims to eradicate deadly diseases like malaria and will be conducted across all seven districts of Karachi, particularly in low-lying areas, around streams, and near garbage dumps where mosquitoes are likely to breed. The fumigation spray will be carried out in the evenings across all districts.
These remarks were made by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad during the inauguration of the fumigation campaign at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s head office. Present at the event were the Deputy Parliamentary Leader of the City Council, Dil Muhammad, Senior Director of Municipal Services, elected members, and other officials. Deputy Mayor Karachi emphasized that the objective of the germicidal spray campaign is to protect citizens from epidemic diseases and to eradicate diseases spreading in the city. He mentioned that spraying would also be conducted around mosques and imambargahs, and efforts would be made to ensure that no area of Karachi remains deprived of fumigation.
Fumigation will utilize KMC vehicles and machinery. The Deputy Mayor affirmed that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will continue to provide protection against germs to its citizens and that the spray campaign around streams, drains, and garbage dumps will be maintained. He stated that the safety and protection of citizens is a priority, which is why they are committed to making Karachi free from epidemic diseases in line with the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He highlighted that providing protection from infectious diseases is a crucial responsibility of local government institutions, and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is fulfilling this duty.
He urged citizens to cooperate with KMC staff during the spray campaign and to inform the Municipal Services Department if any area has not been sprayed, so that immediate action can be taken.
