Srinagar family owns youth killed in Kupwara

Srinagar, July 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, claiming that the youth killed by Indian forces in Tunga Top forest area of Kupwara district on June 29 was their son, Mudasir Ahmad Butt, family members and relatives held a protest at Press Enclave Srinagar to demand the body of Mudasir.

Ghulam Ahmad Butt, Mudasir’s father, said that Mudasir left his home in Old Barzulla Srinagar in December 2016 for some work. He stayed in touch with family members on phone, but in January his phone became switched off. The family then registered a missing report in Sadder police station.

“On June 29, at evening, we heard that Mudasir has been killed in a cordon and search operation by Indian troops. We then had it confirmed from our own sources. We went to our local police station and told them about our information,” said Ghulam Butt.

“On June 30, we went to Kralpora police station in Kupwara district. The police there said that the killed youth was a foreigner and he had been buried. They said they did not have any photo of the killed youth,” Butt said. The youth in Kupwara had been buried in the woods of Zirhama area in Kupwara on Friday evening. Locals said that the army called some civilians to bury the body and did not allow anyone, including police, to take a photo of the youth.
