Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs meets

Islamabad, October 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met in Parliament House, Islamabad this morning under the Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, MNA/Chairman. The Committee expressed concern over US-China Trade War and directed that Pakistan may avoid to become a part of any conflict between the two big nations and take stringent measures to enhance its exports through effective diplomacy in order to generate maximum revenue for the country.

The Committee directed that concerned ministries may strengthen the performance appraisal system for Commercial Attaches for their result-oriented performance so that targets set by the government could be achieved.

The Committee directed that Pakistan may take part in Expo 2020 Dubai effectively in order to promote Pakistani exports in international markets and provide proper guidance to Pakistani traders so that they could work in a combative environment. The Committee decided to have a comprehensive briefing by M/o Commerce on Expo 2020 Dubai in the next meeting.

Earlier, Secretary, M/o Overseas, Special Secretary, M/o Foreign Affairs and Addl. Secretary, M/o Commerce briefly apprised the Committee about the efforts made by them to enhance the exports of Pakistan and problems faced by them in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, MNA, Mr. Jamshed Thomas, MNA, Mr. Ali Zahid, MNA, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, MNA, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, MNA, Ms. Maiza Hameed, MNA, Mr. Ali Nawaz Shah, MNA, Mr. Noor ul Hassan Tanvir, MNA, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNA, and officials of M/o Foreign Affairs, Overseas and Commerce.
