Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage meets

Islamabad, May 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage of National Assembly met under the chairmanship of Mian Javed Latif, MNA at Committee Room No. 07 (4th Floor) Parliament House, Islamabad.

The Committee was briefed by the Ministry on implementation status of previous recommendations of the Committee. Committee partly agreed with the implementation on recommendations. Committee demanded the details regarding recovery of salaries which have been received by the MD (PTV) according to the recommendations of meeting held on 12.03.2019.

DG (IT of the Ministry) briefed the Committee on the performance of Information and Broadcasting Division. He briefed regarding Media Landscape in Pakistan, Strength of MOI and B, Attached Departments, and Programs of Various Departments including Press Information Department (PID), Directorate of Electronic Media and Publication (DEMP), External Publicity Wing, Information Service Academy (ISA), Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), Lok Virsa and Pakistan Peace Collective.

Committee asked various questions regarding briefing as well as the non-payment of salaries to the Journalist and Media Workers. Committee asked about the Advertisement Policy of the Ministry in reply Special Assistant to Prime Minister said that in the next meeting Ministry will share and briefed about the advertisement policy.

Committee condemned the torture and arrest of Parliamentarian and Political workers during rally of Pakistan Peoples Party in Islamabad, on 29.05.2019. The meeting was attended by MNAs; Engr. Usman Khan Tarakai, Mr. Nasir Khan Musazai, Mr. Muhammad Akram, Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Khan, Mr. Aftab Jehangir, Ms. Syma Nadeem, Syed Aminul Haque, Ms. Maryam Aurangzaib, Ms. Maiza Hameed, Ms. Naz Baloch and Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Information and Broadcasting Division, Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Division and heads of the concerned departments.
