LARKANA: Flood water has destroyed all the standing crops in Naundero and adjoining areas, especially guava, which was the hallmark of Larkana, has suffered severe damage.

This was stated by Sirajul Oliya Rashdi, president, Larkana Chamber of Agriculture here on Monday. He said that keeping in view the spread of various diseases due to rainwater, SDO WAPDA Naundero has arranged for 24-hour electricity to the sewage pumping station whose water is being pumped into the Dadu Canal.

He thanked Sajjad Memon, SDO SEPCO, on behalf of the LCA, due to which the water level in the agricultural lands and nearby villages is decreasing gradually, which will allow the cultivation of Rabi crops. He said that we hope that wherever there are pumping stations and drainage systems in Sindh, 24-hour electricity supply is ensured so that the farmers can plant the next crop, especially vegetables, which will start after September 15.

This will not only benefit the farmer, but the flood victims who are fed up with the high cost of food and other items of daily use and will get local cheap vegetables and will be spared from expensive vegetables imported from foreign countries.
