State terrorism in occupied Kashmir flayed

Lahore, February 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): The staff, teachers and students of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) observed Kashmir Solidarity Day to express support to the people of Kashmir for their right to self-determination. Famous writer Kamran Naseem Batalvi was the chief guest and Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University was the guest of honour. Dean of Public health and Preventive Medicine Prof Saira Afzal, Prof Haroon Hamid, Prof Safdar Khan, Prof Khalid Cheema and other faculty members were present.

 

Addressing the participants of the seminar, KEMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal said Pakistanis always raise their voices against Indian oppression and human rights abuse in occupied Kashmir. He reaffirmed the steadfast support to Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle to achieve their constitutional right to decide their future. Furthermore, there is always an end to injustice and cruelty and very soon ‘we all witness the end of Indian Occupation in Kashmir’. The demographic evidence proved eighty six percent population is Muslim in Kashmir.

 

The atrocities committed by Indian Army are criticised everywhere in the world, he said and assured his support and facilitation of Kashmiri students studying in King Edward Medical University. He announced the Kashmir Desk in Directorate of Foreign Affairs King Edward Medical University for facilitation and fast track processing of applications of Kashmiri students. He also announced increase in scholarships for Kashmiri students studying in King Edward Medical University.

 

Kamran Naseem Batalvi presented his latest writing and news column on Kashmir Solidarity Day and shared his views on human rights abuses, latest updated figures on violence, shortage of basic life saving Medicines and present sorrowful condition of people of Kashmir with the audience. He said in today’s peaceful and media dominating era, it is very unfortunate that Kashmiris are deprived of their basic human rights due to the tyranny of Indian fascism. He said the people of Pakistan are always ready to give political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris in their struggle.

 

He said the Indian government is responsible for physical, psychological and sexual assaults, pellet guns and mass burial to suppress Kashmir’s freedom struggle against India’s illegal occupation through oppressive use of force and state terrorism. He said India has carried out violence and human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir for the last several decades.

 

Medical students of King Edward Medical University recited poetry and prose to show their support for Kashmiris and participated in Dua. Human Chain Formation and slogans in favour of people of Kashmir and their human rights were also raised by the students. In the end souvenirs were presented to organisers and students including Dr Saira Tariq, Dr Fariha Salman, Dr Muhammad Nasir, Dr Naeem and Ms Abida Kashif, Ms Salma, Mr Arsal Gill who worked day and night with great passion and commitment for arranging this seminar.
