During the past week, 11,276 motorcycles were seized for not wearing helmets, while action was taken against 831 vehicles for having fancy number plates and tinted windows in Karachi. Additionally, 193 dumpers and tankers were seized for lack of fitness certificates and overspeeding.
This strict crackdown on traffic violations is underway on the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The traffic police have presented their progress report from April 9 to April 16 to the Chief Minister, detailing the actions taken against numerous violations, according to Spokesperson of CM Sindh.
The traffic police have recommended canceling the registration of 25 large and small vehicles due to lack of fitness. In this regard, a temporary cancellation of registration for 174 vehicles has also been proposed.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has instructed bike riders to wear helmets and stay safe, and has directed the traffic police to take strict action against motorcyclists not wearing helmets. He has committed to continuing strict measures for the safety of citizens.
The Chief Minister clarified that there will be zero tolerance for unfit and unregistered vehicles, and immediate fines will be imposed for fancy number plates and tinted windows. He has also instructed to ensure complete enforcement of traffic laws.
