Majyd Aziz, former president of the Employers Federation of Pakistan, has urged the members of the Millennium Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship (MITE) Student Council to view themselves as the future leaders of the student body.
According to a statement issued by Employers Federation of Pakistan today, in a compelling address, Aziz emphasized that their role is to unite fellow students, fostering collaboration and avoiding the pitfalls of negative politics during their tenure.
Aziz, who has long championed leadership development, spoke of the lasting value of such roles. “What you learn here, and the experiences you gather, will serve you in the future, whether you choose to lead trade bodies, professional organizations, or even shape your career,” he noted. The former business leader made a direct connection between student council leadership and future success, advising the council members that the ability to bring people together is a skill that will continue to benefit them long after their school years.
In his reflection on leadership, Aziz remarked that, had he been in charge of a student council during his university days in Pakistan and the United States, it would have equipped him with invaluable experience for his future leadership roles. He revealed that, in his experience as head of various prestigious business organizations, his greatest asset had been the respect and trust he earned through integrity, passion, and courage.
Aziz also acknowledged the importance of MITE’s role in shaping global leaders, suggesting that fostering a sense of pride in the institution is key. “One day, when you look back, you should be able to say with pride, ‘I am an alumnus of MITE,'” he said.
In his concluding remarks, Aziz expressed his belief that leadership within student councils holds a unique potential for future success, and encouraged MITE’s student leaders to make the most of this opportunity to shape their futures and that of their peers.
