Students hold anti-India demonstrations in Bandipora

Srinagar, March 27, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, students of Government Degree College Bandipora staged anti-India and pro-freedom protests in Bandipora town. Hundreds of students of Degree College Bandipora including girls staged demonstrations against the presence of Indian troops during an event in the campus. They raised slogans “Go India go back”, “No election, no selection – we want freedom”, “Pakistan Zindabad”, “Jeevey jeevey Pakistan, “Huma Pakistani hen – Pakistan hamara Hey”.

The college management had arranged a two-day ‘Youth Summit’ in collaboration with the Indian Army’s 27 Rashtriya Rifles deployed at Kaloosa in Bandipora which was to be attended by senior Indian Army, police and civil officials. The students were irked as to why the event was being held in collaboration with the Indian Army. The protest by the students forced the authorities to call off the event and the officials of 27 Rashtriya Rifles to leave the venue.

In a video widely shared on the social networking sites, Indian forces’ vehicles can be seen leaving the GDC Bandipora amid pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans by students. Although Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and police officials were also on the guest list, they were, as per sources, told not to come, after the protests. Meanwhile, Indian troops launched violent cordon and search operations in different areas of Sopore, Kulgam, Shopian, Islamabad and Pulwama areas.
