Students protest against influential

NAUNDERO: Villagers and students of Government Primary School, Koreja village, near Garhi Khuda Bux, held a demonstration outside their school on Wednesday against influential persons of their village for not allowing construction of the three classrooms on 1st floor of existing primary school building for over a year and half for which Sindh Government has allocated over Rs5.5 million.

Villagers including Ali Akbar Korejo, Munwar Korejo, Tufail Ahmed, Rashid Korejo, Tariq Muhammad Panah Junejo and others claimed that over 400 students are enrolled in the existing school getting education in four classrooms and due to shortage of classrooms their kids are feeling serious hardships in hot weather in getting their education. They said that they had given several applications to higher education department authorities and got approval for more classrooms to be constructed on the 1st floor of the existing building but some influential persons of the village are not allowing construction on the pretext of Pardah due to which construction work is in doldrums since over one and half year. They alleged that children of those who are creating hurdles are also studying elsewhere and they randomly visit the village.

Headmistress of the school Abida Perveen Chajro said there are only four classrooms in the existing school and fifth of headmistress where over 400 students are studying. She said over 50 students are studying in each classroom hence more rooms are urgently required for imparting proper education. She said overcrowding of classrooms also creates troubles for the teachers especially in the summer season. She urged higher education department bosses and other concerned authorities to intervene quickly before lapse of the funds so that construction work could be started and education of children should not suffer at any cost.
