Karachi, January 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): SSGC tightened the rope against the gas thieves by cutting down the various illegal connections in Karachi. SS and CGTO team in coordination with Company’s CRD, FIR Cell, along with SSGC Police continued its crackdown against miscreants involved in theft of natural gas by raiding in the areas of Federal ‘B’ Area and Mahmoodabad. The teams disconnected the illegal direct supply of gas and saved millions of rupees of Company by curbing gas theft.
SS and CGTO conducted a raid on Industrial Corrugation Factory in Federal ‘B’ Area where the culprits were using direct gas through tempering the meter. Total load that was being obtained was 925 cft/ hr. Culprit owner of the Corrugation Factory Zahid Aziz was arrested and FIR was lodged and recovery amount will be charged against him.
In another raid that was carried out by Counter Gas Theft Operation (CGTO) in Mahmoodabad on a large bakery where the customer was found using gas directly through rubber pipe. Total load obtained at the time of raid was 1110 cft/ hr. The gas supply was disconnected and culprit owner of the bakery Babar Khan was arrested.
FIR has been lodged as per Gas Theft and Recovery Act 2016 and theft amount would be charged. SSGC continues to unearth the network of gas thieves and meter tampering miscreants who are the main causes of Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG) or line losses, which is severely impacting SSGC’s financial bottom line.
