Srinagar, March 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed has said that recent incidents of suicides by two army men in Langate and Lolab areas of Kupwara district showed the level of extreme stress the Indian soldiers are going through in the territory.
Er Rasheed addressing a gathering in Handwara said that both the incidents should open the eyes of hate-mongers and war propagandists all over India and they must understand that those wearing uniform were also human beings and could not always remain detached and isolated from what was happening around them and how it affected their personal lives.
He said these are not the incidents in isolation but such panic tragedies have happened in the past also when even army officers committed suicide after feeling distressed. “Let the ultra nationalists not forget the fate, Major Avtar who killed renowned human rights activist, Jaleel Andrabi. The suicide committed by Major Avtar proves that sooner or later one realizes the mistake and finds himself guilty in the court of conscience, even if the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) may give him impunity,” he added.
