In a significant political development, a Jamaat-e-Islami delegation led by senior leader Asadullah Bhutto met with Qaumi Awami Tehreek President Ayaz Latif Palijo at his residence in Qasimabad area of Hyderabad.
The delegation invited Palijo to participate in an All Parties Conference (APC) scheduled for January 12 in Sukkur, aimed at addressing the lawlessness and banditry plaguing the region. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the prevailing political situation in Sindh, including the mismanagement of water resources and the controversial handover of agricultural lands to corporate entities. Both leaders agreed on the need for a unified struggle by Sindh-friendly parties to counter these challenges.
Prominent figures from Jamaat-e-Islami, including former Sindh Amir Muhammad Hussain Mehnati, Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Hafiz Tahir Majeed, Mujahid Channa, Hanif Sheikh, and Sufyan Nasir, were present on the occasion. Similarly, Qaumi Awami Tehreek leaders Altaf Khaskheli and Shaukat Tanio also attended the meeting.
Palijo expressed his commitment to the cause, stating that his party supports any initiative aimed at ensuring peace and protecting the rights of the common people, including children, women, and minorities. He lauded Jamaat-e-Islami’s efforts and assured full support for the APC and its agenda for peace in Sindh.
Bhutto criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for its governance over the past 16 years, highlighting the worsening conditions in Sindh. He pointed to the increasing influence of bandits in upper Sindh and the planned transfer of 190,000 acres of land in Umerkot to corporate entities as betrayals of Sindh’s interests. Bhutto emphasized that the APC in Sukkur would address the grievances of the people and seek solutions to the pressing issues facing the province.
The meeting underscored the shared resolve of both parties to continue their struggle against injustices and to restore peace and security in Sindh.
