Sumji expresses concern over prevailing situation in IOK

Srinagar, July 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the General Secretary of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Ghulam Nabi Sumji has expressed grave concern over horrendous situation as a result of deployment of heavy contingents of military and police force against the civil population. Ghulam Nabi Sumji in a statement issued in Srinagar said that during nocturnal raids dozens of political leaders and activists were subjected to humiliation, third degree torture and inhuman treatment.

He condemned the illegal arrest of Hurriyat activists and leaders including Bashir Ahmad Lone, Ghulam Rasool Dar, Nazir Ahamad Ganai, Ghulam Hassan Shah, Abdul Hamid Parray, Khurshid Ahamad Hajam, Nasir Ahamad Rather, Ajaz Ahamad Lone, Mumtaz Ahamad Dar, Irshad Ahamad Dar and Mushtaq Ahamad Wani.

Terming forces’ action against the people and political activists as the worst form of state oppression, he demanded the intervention of the United Nations Human Rights Commission to prevail upon India to shun human rights abuses in Kashmir.
