PCB Awards 2020 details announced

Karachi:The Pakistan Cricket Board says the PCB Awards 2020 will be a recognition and appreciation of the players and match officials for their achievements, as well as their contributions and sacrifices, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic while announcing details for the awards on Monday.   The PCB said that it was probably the only cricket board that announced a complete season on 4 September and, since 30 September, has successfully delivered 186 matches out of 259 (nearly 71 per cent) to date.   The remaining 73 matches of the 2020-21 season, comprising the five-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final, five matches against South Africa, 33 matches in the Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament and 34 matches in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2021 will be played in the first quarte...

Quaid-e-Azam Day KMC Inter Academy U- 16 Cricket Tournament begins

KARACHI:The Quaid-e-Azam Day KMC Inter Academy Under-16 Cricket Tournament commenced at KMC Eastern Star Cricket Ground and KMC Cricket Ground Nazimabad on Friday.   Twelve teams are participating in the tournament. The teams are KMC Cricket Academy, Azad Cricket Academy, National Bank of Pakistan Cricket Academy, PIA Cricket Academy, Moin Khan Cricket Academy, Dawood Sports Cricket Academy, United Cricket Academy, Bob Woolmer Cricket Academy, Sarfaraz Ahmad Cricket Academy, Iftikhar Ahmad Cricket Academy, Nazimabad Gymkhana Cricket Academy and Custom Cricket Academy.   The teams are divided into four groups. Each team will play two group matches. Group topper will be eligible to play semifinals. One innings is consisted of 30 overs.

Salman fined for showing dissent

KARACHI:Southern Punjab’s Salman Ali Agha has been fined 70 per cent of his match-fee for breaching the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel during his side’s ongoing match against Sindh in the first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy here at the State Bank Stadium.   Salman was found to have violated Article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a Match”.   The incident happened in the 57th over of Southern Punjab’s first innings on the third day of the match on Tuesday, when Salman, after being adjudged LBW, showed his hand and then his bat to the umpire to establish that he had played the ball.   This is his second offence of the Article in the season.   Salman pleaded g...

Waqar Younis to miss second Test

KARACHI:Bowling coach Waqar Younis will return to Pakistan after the first Test against New Zealand to meet his family, whom he has not met since June.   Waqar Younis had requested the team management to be granted leave so that he can spend additional time with his immediate family, which will be in Lahore before returning to Sydney, Australia, on 17 January.
