FM: (SCO to set up Centre of Excellence, Joint Working Group on Poverty Alleviation in Islamabad)

Islamabad:The Council of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has unanimously adopted Pakistan's proposal to set up a Center of Excellence in Islamabad and a Joint Working Group on Poverty Alleviation. This was stated by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a video message on the conclusion of SCO meeting in Moscow on Thursday. He said all the members were of the view that the Corona pandemic still exists and for that we should formulate a common strategy to deal with. He said the SCO countries appreciated the role of China for providing technical assistance during the pandemic and congratulated Russia for making a vaccine for the treatment of coronavirus. FM: (FM leaves for Moscow to attend meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of SCO)

ISLAMABAD:Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has left for Moscow on two-day visit to attend meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The invitation to the Foreign Minister to attend the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers was extended by his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, who will also chair the meeting. Talking to media before departure, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said SCO is an important platform that provides numerous opportunities for progress, prosperity and regional connectivity. He said there will be several countries at the conference that have keen interest as well as link with peace and stability in Afghanistan.
