KARACHI:Teams have started training ahead of the Pakistan Men’s and Women’s National Netball Championships, which will be held at the Islamabad’s Pakistan Sports Complex from June 27 to 30 “Almost all teams have started their training except Sindh due to lockdown restrictions in the province,” Mudassir Arian, President Pakistan Netball Federation, told PPI.

“But we are expecting that restrictions will be eased soon and Sindh teams will also start their preparations.” The partial lockdown in the country had forced Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) to postpone Pakistan Men’s and Women’s National Netball Championships by nine days on request of participating teams.

The event was scheduled to take place from June 18 after it was moved from February earlier this year due to the pandemic. But due to partial lockdown in the country the participating teams requested to move the event for a later timeline since the players were unable to practice ahead of the event. Arian said that a total of 14 teams will be seen in action during the event. WAPDA will defend both men’s and women’s title championship. “We are confident that the championships will be held as planned,” Arian said.
