There is no country like Pakistan: Michael Barber

Lahore, March 22, 2018 (PPI-OT): Managing Partner of DFID Delivery Associate Mr. Michael Barber has said that he has visited quite a number of countries, but there is no country like Pakistan nor are there such a wonderful people like the Pakistanis. While addressing a meeting of Punjab Reforms Roadmap, chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif through video conference from London, Michael Barber said that the visionary leadership of Shehbaz Sharif impressed him a lot who is working round the clock for providing best services to the people.

He maintained that people of Punjab are hardworking, loyal, honest, graceful, courageous and ever-ready to achieve their life-goals. He said that great story of Punjab will always impress him. This is just the start of development journey of Punjab and is not the end. While addressing the Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Michael Barber said that Chief Minister’s attention on prioritizing health and education sectors always surprised him.

He declared Clean Punjab Program a wonderful project. He said that according to the analysis of third party, facts and figures of the development of education, health and other sectors are enviable. He said that Punjab has gain lead by taking so many innovative measures. He said many people thought that these targets could not be achieved but government of Punjab has done so. He said that enrolling the children of workers of brick kilns to schools is a commendable step of Chief Minister Punjab.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that government of Punjab has ensured the recruitment of teachers on hundred percent merit which is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan. Heads of World Bank, World Health Organization, UNICEF, DFID, Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Kh. Imran Nazir, Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary C and W, Chairman P and D, Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Secretary Schools, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Provincial Secretaries and heads of different departments also expressed their views on this occasion.
